UK's CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE pick JUDY GARLAND as "track of the day"!!!

Track Of The Day: Kill Miss Pretty

mdome / News / 09/04/2010 10:06am

A founding member of Marilyn Manson’s band has teamed with Florida electro-rockers Kill Miss Pretty – and they’re giving you lot a free song. So welcome to the latest Track Of The Day. Check out all recent Tracks Of The Day.

The Mazza man is Daisy Berkowitz, aka Scott Putesky, who was the original guitarist with MM’s band. He’s now a fully fledged member of KMP, who describe their sound as ‘blending rock, electronics, synthesis, sex, groove and FUN into an over-the-top feast for the senses’.

He joins vocalist Alicia ‘The Flexible’ (the mind boggles!), guitarist/synth player/programmer Russ and bassist Martin in a line-up that’s working on a new album, set for release in the summer. It’s the follow up to 2008’s Permission For Strange, which is as oddball as that title might suggest. Thankfully.

Now you may download the song Judy Garland, their first collaboration with Berkowitz/Putesky, for free at www.killmisspretty.com/default.asp?page=music.

You have to sign up, but once that’s done there are other, older tracks available for nothing, including the whole of Permission For Strange.

Marilyn Manson's Daisy Berkowitz joins forces with KILL MISS PRETTY for new album

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Marilyn Manson's Daisy Berkowitz joins forces with KILL MISS PRETTY for new album

Fort Lauderdale, FL - March 22, 2010 - Marilyn Manson co-founder and original guitarist Scott Putesky (SMP), aka Daisy Berkowitz, has teamed up with Florida's electro-punk darlings Kill Miss Pretty (KMP) to write and record a new album for release this summer.

The new CD will include their recently released single collaboration JUDY GARLAND, as well as new KMP tunes and a remake of the early Marilyn Manson & Spooky Kids classic "She's not My Girlfriend".

The union seems a match made in heaven/hell as Kill Miss Pretty has been attracting attention from the press not only for its songwriting, but theatrical performances as well. KMP has in the last year garnered awards for Best Female Vocalist and Best Rock Band in local publications, and now with the addition of SMP, their continued rise seems inevitable.

On February 20th in Ft. Lauderdale, for the single release party for Judy Garland, SMP joined KMP onstage for 3 songs including Judy Garland, Manson's Dogma, and a freaked out version of Nirvana's Negative Creep. This proved the impetus as KMP and SMP began rehearsing and writing immediately thereafter. The first full show featuring the KMP/SMP  lineup will take place April 23rd at Will's Pub in Orlando, FL, and will be the live premier of the "She's Not My Girlfriend" remake. Opening the show will be rock veterans Rock City Angels, and Vascular Symphony.

Says Putesky, "This is the kind of thing early Manson/Spooky Kids fans can really enjoy. KMP have established themselves as a fresh musical voice and visual delight very much in the spirit of The Spooky Kids. I'm happy to be having fun and working with creative, open, and like-minded performers. Russ, Alicia and Martin and I go way back - like 8 tracks. Plus they're freaks in their own right."

NBC Miami - NiteTalk: Kill Miss Pretty's Alicia Olink

"Like some back-alley fairy tale come to life, neo-glam rock band Kill Miss Pretty shocks and awes it audience with notoriously wild stage shows. Both guitarist Russ Rogers and bassist Martin Davis are know to sport Tim Burton-esque duds but all eyes are generally on singer Alicia Olink, whose presence is at once bedazzling and beguiling." Getting wet with Kill Miss Pretty (Palm Beach Post)

I was first introduced to Kill Miss Pretty’s music back at Moonfest in October. Since then, I have been intrigued by these guys and gal that (in my mind) stole the show Halloween night. As the Boynton Beach based trio prepares to release their latest single, “Judy Garland”, we sat down with them to see what’s going on in their land of Oz.

Having been a unit for a few years now, Russ (guitar/programming), Alicia (vocals), and Martin (bass) seem more like a family than anything else. There is a closeness about them that is apparent from the moment all three of them are in the room. When I asked Russ why there was no drummer in their act, the response was simple, programming the tracks himself is easier and more consistent. Not having a live drummer also cuts down on the amount of noise coming out of their practice space. With the talent and dynamic these musicians posses, there certainly isn’t a need for one.

Kill Miss Pretty: A tight Squeeze (City Link Magazine article by Colleen Dougher)

http://citylinkmix.com/music/kill-miss-pretty-a-tight-squeeze/

If Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz were really Alicia Olink from Boynton Beach electropunk act Kill Miss Pretty, and her house that spun through the air in a twister were really the much-adored but defunct Fort Lauderdale nightclub Squeeze, the whole scene might resemble the nightclub Sea Monster, the former site of Squeeze, this Saturday. Kill Miss Pretty will take the stage at the club to debut its new single, “Judy Garland,” which features Olink whispering, “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.”
